**Mulla Nasiruddin and the Price of the Donkey**
One day, Mulla Nasiruddin decided to sell his old donkey. He took the donkey to the market and announced, “I will sell this donkey for 100 gold coins!” People laughed when they heard the price. One man came closer and said, “Mulla, are you serious? This old donkey is not worth 100 gold coins. I would give you only 20.” Mulla smiled and replied, “The price of something depends on how much it is worth to the person who wants it.”
Many people came to see the donkey, but they all offered much less than Mulla's asking price. Some laughed at him, while others told him that he was being foolish. Mulla remained calm and refused to lower the price. His friend asked, “Why don't you accept a reasonable offer?” Mulla replied, “If I lower my price every time someone laughs at me, I will never get what I believe something is worth. People are free to make offers, but I am also free to say no.”
Later that day, a wealthy merchant came to the market. He looked at the donkey carefully and asked Mulla, “Is the donkey really 100 gold coins?” Mulla said, “Yes.” The merchant thought for a moment and finally agreed to pay the full 100 gold coins. Mulla happily handed over the donkey. His friend was amazed and asked, “How did you manage to sell such an old donkey for 100 gold coins?” Mulla smiled and said, “The donkey was worth whatever someone was willing to pay for him.”
The story teaches us an important lesson: **never let other people decide your value for you.** People may laugh at your dreams, criticize your abilities, or tell you that you are not good enough. Listen to useful advice, but do not allow negative opinions to destroy your confidence. Know your strengths, be patient, keep improving yourself, and wait for the right opportunity. Sometimes, the person who understands your value may come when you least expect it. And as Mulla Nasiruddin proved, sometimes even a donkey can teach us a great lesson about life
