One day, Mullah Nasruddin took his donkey to the market to sell it. Along the way, people admired the donkey but said its long tail reduced its value. Believing their advice, Nasruddin cut off the tail.

At the market, buyers examined the donkey and said, “It is a good donkey, but without a tail it is worth much less.” Nasruddin was shocked because he thought removing the tail would make it more valuable.

He quickly opened his bag and showed them the tail. “Don't worry,” he said, “I still have the tail with me!” The buyers laughed, and Nasruddin realized his mistake.
