In response to the video being shared on social media regarding the incident at Jaffer Tayyar area of Malir, KE is deeply saddened and extends its deepest sympathies to the family. At the same time KE would like to aprise readers about the below facts:

- Kundas combined with encroachments are a leading cause of public fatalities. This was the case in the extremely unfortunate incident that occurred in Jaffar Tayyar.

- Neither has there been any incidence of a broken wire with regards to this incident, nor have any reports been received of the same. Incidentally no KE infrastructure passes over the site where the incident occurred, while no KE infrastructure is also present in the immediate area.

- Encroachments, illegal extensions and kundas are rampant in the area.

- K-Electric has raised its concerns regarding encroachments and pervasiveness of kundas with law enforcement agencies and other relevant authorities highlighting them as a severe public safety hazard.

- It is important to note that the site of incident is located at some distance from the residence.

- The electricity bill being shared on social media is in the name of Yasmeen Sakeena and consists of a total of 6 years arrears since 2013. The bill was delivered per routine billing mechanism. KE reiterates that it follows applicable regulations for all its processes and billing history and record is available.

- KE seeks strong government support and rigorous enforcement to ensure that unplanned settlements, illegal networks and kundas are eliminated and public safety ensured.
