War Hysteria
(WAR HYSTERIA)

War hysteria is the madness of war — a kind of emotional epidemic. It’s a psychological condition in which a population, driven by fear, anger, and propaganda, becomes obsessed with the idea of war. Logic and peace are sidelined during this phase.

Why does it happen?
Humans are emotional beings. In moments of fear or perceived threat, our brain’s primitive “fight or flight” system kicks in. Instead of thinking critically, we react — often aggressively. Leaders and media can manipulate these emotions to unite people against a common enemy, even if the threat isn’t fully understood or real.

How does it spread?
Like wildfire. Through:
• Loud headlines
• Emotional speeches
• Social media outrage
• Nationalistic slogans
It spreads from person to person like a contagious virus — except instead of sneezing, people shout, post, and rally.

Signs of War Hysteria:
• Sensationalized media coverage
• “You’re either with us or against us” mindset
• Glorification of war and revenge
• Fear, anger, pride, and patriotic frenzy
• Urgent and irrational calls for action

Historical Example:
• U.S. entering WWII after Pearl Harbor attack
• Public support for war in Iraq (2003) based on fear, not facts

وار ہسٹیریا (War Hysteria) کا مطلب ہے جنگی جنون — ایک ایسی کیفیت جس میں ایک پوری قوم جذبات، خوف، اور حب الوطنی کے جوش میں آ کر عقل و دلیل کو بھول جاتی ہے، اور جنگ کی حمایت میں اندھی ہو جاتی ہے۔

یہ کیفیت عام طور پر میڈیا، حکومت یا طاقتور حلقوں کی جانب سے پھیلائی جاتی ہے، تاکہ عوام کو دشمن کے خلاف بھڑکایا جا سکے، چاہے اصل حالات اتنے سنجیدہ نہ ہوں۔

وار ہسٹیریا کی نشانیاں:
• میڈیا میں سنسنی خیز خبریں، بغیر تحقیق کے
• دشمن قوم یا گروہ کو مکمل شیطان بنا دینا
• اختلاف رائے کو غداری قرار دینا (“اگر تم ہمارے ساتھ نہیں، تو دشمن کے ساتھ ہو”)
• قومی ترانے، جھنڈے، اور جوشیلے نعرے بازی
• عوام کا فوری بدلہ لینے کا مطالبہ

تاریخی مثالیں:
• پرل ہاربر حملے کے بعد امریکہ کا جنگ میں کود پڑنا (WWII)
• 2001 کے بعد عراق پر حملہ، بغیر پکے ثبوت کے
• پاکستان اور بھارت کے درمیان پلوامہ یا اُڑی حملوں کے بعد کشیدگی

یعنی جب قوم کو “سوچنے” کے بجائے “جوش میں آ کر لڑنے” پر لگا دیا جائے — اسے کہتے ہیں وار ہسٹیریا۔
