  • Z Hilmi Karim from Malaysia is in islamabad and craving for Nasi Lemak !

Can you invite him to eat it ?

To make Nasi Lemak in Islamabad, you can follow these steps:

    Ingredients:
    - 2 cups of jasmine rice
    - 4 cups of water
    - 1 cup of coconut milk
    - 1 pandan leaf (optional, for flavor)
    - 1 teaspoon of salt
    - Sambal (spicy chili paste)
    - Cucumber slices
    - Fried anchovies
    - Roasted peanuts
    - Hard-boiled or fried eggs
    - Banana leaves for serving (if available)

    Instructions:

    1. Wash the jasmine rice until the water runs clear.

    2. In a large pot, combine the rice, water, coconut milk, pandan leaf, and salt. Bring to a boil.

    3. Once its boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and simmer for about 15-20 minutes, or until the rice is cooked and the liquid is absorbed.

    4. While the rice is cooking, prepare the sambal. You can either make your own sambal or use store-bought.

    5. Once the rice is ready, remove the pandan leaf if used and fluff the rice with a fork.

    6. Serve the Nasi Lemak by placing a portion of rice on a banana leaf (if available) or a plate.

    7. Top the rice with sambal, cucumber slices, fried anchovies, roasted peanuts, and your choice of hard-boiled or fried eggs.

    8. Nasi Lemak is traditionally served with a piece of banana leaf as a garnish or to enhance the flavor. If you dont have banana leaves, you can use a regular plate.

    9. Enjoy your homemade Nasi Lemak!

Please note that you can adjust the level of spiciness in the sambal to suit your taste.
