I hope this letter finds you well. As you know, I am Sir Syed Ahmed Khan, a reformer, educator and a strong advocate for the education and empowerment of Muslims in India. Today, 150 years after my passing, I write to you to emphasize once again the importance of learning English.
In my time, I recognized the significance of the English language in the changing political and social landscape of India, and saw it as a means to bridge the gap between the British colonial rulers and the Indian population. I believed that by learning English, Muslims could gain a better understanding of British laws and administration, and thus be better equipped to protect their rights and interests. I also saw English education as a means of combating the negative stereotypes and prejudices held by the British colonial authorities.
Today, I am pleased to see that Pakistan has made great progress in education and development. However, I believe that the importance of learning English remains just as relevant today as it was in my time. English continues to be a dominant language in the global community and is widely used in fields such as science, technology, business, and diplomacy. By learning English, you will not only broaden your horizons and expand your opportunities, but you will also be better equipped to participate in the global conversation and make your voice heard on the international stage.
Of course, I would also like to emphasize the importance of preserving ones own cultural and linguistic heritage while learning and adapting to new languages and cultures. By combining the best of both worlds, you will become a true global citizen, capable of making meaningful contributions to the world and to your own community.
