Mark Spencer is a computer programmer and entrepreneur who has made significant contributions to the field of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP).

Spencer is best known as the founder and former CEO of Digium, a company that developed Asterisk, an open source software platform for building telephony systems. Asterisk was the first open source PBX (private branch exchange) and has become a widely popular platform for building VoIP-based communication systems.

Spencer is also credited with creating the first open source software-based PBX and with helping to popularize the use of open source software in the telecommunications industry. He has received numerous awards and recognition for his contributions to VoIP and open source software.

In addition to his work with Digium and Asterisk, Spencer has also been involved in a number of other ventures related to VoIP and has been an active member of the VoIP community.

Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is a technology that allows users to make phone calls over the Internet by transmitting voice data in digital form. While the concept of using the Internet for voice communication dates back to the 1970s, the first commercial Internet phone software was developed by VocalTec, a company founded by Israeli entrepreneurs Amir Ben-Artzi and Alon Cohen, in the 1990s. VocalTecs Internet phone software, called "Internet Phone," was launched in 1995 and quickly became popular, with more than 1 million users within the first year. This marked the beginning of the VoIP industry and paved the way for the widespread adoption of VoIP technology.

Jeff Keni Pulver is a pioneer in the field of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and is known for his contributions to the development and popularization of this technology.

In the 1990s, Pulver co-founded VocalTec, a company that developed the first commercial Internet phone software, which allowed users to make phone calls over the Internet using their computers. This marked the beginning of the VoIP industry and paved the way for the widespread adoption of VoIP technology.

Pulver is also credited with creating the first VoIP conference, called "Voice on the Net," or VON, in 1996. The conference helped to bring together industry experts and executives to discuss the potential of VoIP and its potential to transform the telecommunications industry.

Throughout his career, Pulver has continued to be a thought leader in the field of VoIP and has been involved in a number of startups and ventures related to this technology. He is also the author of several books on VoIP and related topics.
