In the last 30 years, China got 700 million people out of poverty. They did not do this through charity. The unlock the spirit of enterprise of the people and created jobs and they worked hard to become middle class society.
The model of China Economic growth was a copy of Singapore where the same ruling party controls the country since 1959. While the politics is less free, the Economic and social freedom boosted our quality of life.
Many rural Chinese people are still poor but nobody is hungry.
The Uighurs or Hong Kong situations are caused by cultural disharmony.
China has 1.4 Billion population. Their #1 priority is Stability.
So some strong control is introduced on the small populations to follow the main population.
Right or wrong depends on the stage of development.
If China was soft, theyd lose stability of the whole country. So they took tough measures.
Americans promotes democracy but their democracy is also failing when they elected an idiot as President who divide them into two opposite halves completely polarised.
So the measure of freedom is first Economic freedom and quality of life. Chaotic situations cannot improve Society.
If you have a good President today, give him a chance and work together as one nation.
Both China and USA are only interested in themselves. So both are as bad or as good depending on what Position you stand.
Pakistanis has to look after Pakistan. Like Singapore, we balance the relationship with USA and China and India without allowing anyone to bully us.
