I was the MOST Shy person who wasn’t able to speak in front of his class fellows in presentation but how I build up my confidence.
Shyness is the awkwardness that many of us feel while approaching or when being approached by other people. Just like many of us, I was also a shy person who felt anxiety with human interactions. I was so shy at my school that I didn’t even talk to anyone and didn’t raise my hand even if I knew the answer. My teachers mostly complaint about my shyness and used to ask my parents ‘Ghar me sab theek hai?’.
The phase continued in the college too. I wasn’t even able to speak during a presentation in front of my class fellows because of the fear of being judged or laughed at. I used to avoid gatherings and social events because I’d feel so uncomfortable with the thought that people might be talking negatively about me.
But as I grew up, I realized that all these are our own thoughts, and all the fears of judgments exist only in our heads. People don’t care ap kesy boltay ho, kya kar rhy ho yan kya karna chahty ho.
Today, I see many people around me who are shy because of being judged, criticized, humiliated, and because of fear of failure. So, I decided to share my own experience and how I managed to overcome my shyness.
• The first and foremost step to overcome your shyness is knowing that YOU CAN DO IT. I had faith in myself, pushed myself, and did struggle with the fear I had inside and the voices inside me that inhibited me and eventually became stronger than my fear.
• Remember, NEVER step back from a situation because of your shyness, you can take small steps but make sure to move forward. I also took small steps; I started with talking to a random person every single day to practice getting over my shyness and fear of being myself in front of someone new.
• * The reason behind my success and confidence is also my knowledge. I learned every minor detail and researched on each aspect of Amazon before starting my business. One of the main reasons for shyness and fear is lack of knowledge about your field or your business. The more you understand and know about your business, the more comfortable you will be, and thus less power your shyness will have over you.
• Most importantly, Challenge Yourself and try new things. I never get satisfied with my success and always keep on struggling and upgrading my goals. I set new goals every day, and for them, try new things, that help in enhancing my confidence level.
• Engage yourself in professional relationships forcing you to GROW. It ensures your personal growth and generates confidence. Showing up on professional meetings and being fully present are the keys to be confident.
Feel okay with rejection and failure. If you fail today in your professional life, don’t take it personally. Accept to be imperfect and learn from your experience.
I didn’t become a successful seller on Amazon from the first day, I also have faced many failures and ups and downs, and all those harsh experiences helped me grow and become more confident.
Last but not least, you need to avoid comparing yourself with others as it will just make you feel miserable. Try your best and learn from your experience to do better next time.
Know your worth; see your importance. Love yourself; you are unique and important, so don’t forget it.
