1998 I met a guy in Sultanabad who told me he will get a reference letter from his partner in Malaysia so I can get a visa for Malaysia. I was 20 years old. I started dreaming that I am flying to Malaysia, I will be exploring Malaysian beaches, I will pluck dollars from trees, I will become rich, I will wear Tie, Shoes and Coat.
I met him 35 times over next 3 months, I waited outside of his house for hours and he kept telling me, the letter is coming, everyday new topi. The letter never came. My emotions, my dreams, my plans shattered into pieces. I cannot explain the pain I have gone through as a 20 year old young man. I was devastated.
I learned a lesson of my life. Never ever give a lollipop to someone. I see senior members abusing newbies, giving them lollipops and motivational pakoray. This is sad. You should have clarity in your offer. Write on paper what you can offer, what you cannot offer. Never ever try to shatter a young soul. It is painful. They have dreams. They have hopes and you giving them lollipops.
If you want someone working free for you, fine, give them in writing that you for 30 days, no pay, after 30 days, I evaluate and will probably offer you $100 to $200 max based on your performance, only if I want to continue with you. After 6 months, I evaluate again, I pay you X amount of money. Write on paper. Sign a contract. We need this culture of writing on paper and contracts signed by everyone instead of lollipops, "Bayfikar raho, Bhai hay naa"
