I was born & brought up in Karachi. Earned my BBA and MBA degree from IBA Karachi after which I worked in financial services for several years during which I spent most of my time at ORIX Leasing Pakistan Ltd, a Japanese owned company. I was mostly on the business side engaged in Sales, Marketing, Business Development, Communications, Credit Risk etc. I was heading their Corporate Communications when I migrated to Toronto. There I worked in the financial services also and on the business side. In 2017, I became independent business consultant working with SMEs helping them in getting funding and financing for their various business needs. I also consulted on different other areas. My customers were predominantly immigrant run small businesses.
Recently I moved back to Pakistan to be with my ageing parents as they needed me around at this age and stage of their life. I am now in the process of settling down and looking for an appropriate work opportunity.
I have deep interest in culture, music, performing arts, history, heritage, poetry and literature. I established a music forum called Sur Sangum that was converted to a nonprofit in Toronto few years ago. Between 2015-20, I curated and put together over 40 performances & events. Together with a couple of friends I established Canada chapter of Pakistan based Hunar Foundation and we raised around CAD $400K for them through different fundraising activities between 2018-19. I am also on the Board of a charity called Friends of the Museums of Mississauga that supports heritage of Mississauga city. I served on the Board of IBA Alumni Canada Chapter for a two year term 2017-19. Currently I am also on the Executive Council of All Pakistan Music Conference Karachi as well as active member of Joy of Urdu. Prior to migrating to Canada, I actively volunteered with Tehzeeb Foundation, Karachi Relief Trust, The Citizens Foundation, Tehrik e Niswan and Sampurna.
