We live in very strange times. Everyday I read horror stories, rapes and killings, wars and famine. Everyday I watch greedy leaders win over humane ones, I think there is no way I can fight this. What can one person do? I bow my head down in shame and keep quiet. Money wins over ethics, the powerful take advantage of the weak, the world laughs at the idealists, it is about MONEY you fool they say, you are wasting your time they say. I am quiet, I hold my peace. Don't think about these things they say, focus on the positive they say, look at me I am rich and famous they say, who are you they say? I nod and feel like a nobody. Perhaps they are all right, I think...... and then I see that child, no clothes and hungry, but eyes shining bright and full of hope. That child that their greed and power has not yet touched. That child that looks at me and says PLEASE speak up, please keep fighting for me......... and I know It is not "the they" that matter, it is that one child and his future....
