I had a long text conversation with Ahmed today when he reached out saying how are you, dear. I thanked him and suggested he not use the word dear with women he doesnt know well.
I then shared that i never accept any friend requests from men I dont know but did with him and others from Pakistan because of Rehan Allahwala.
Then I admitted that U.S. women, including me, had become scared of Muslim men since 9/11. A long discussion ensued.
He said I should only talk to men who speak with kindness, essentially. He told me hes not particularly religious but has been to churches, mosques, temples, etc and finds God everywhere. etc. etc.
It was a good chat.
