I am Mohammad Layeeque from India. I live in Delhi. I am from I.T and Banking background, currently working to establish my own company for human resource and consultancy in the country and abroad. Also working with "Institute of Peace" to establish peace and harmony around the world, specially among different countries and religions having conflicts.
My journey on social media and being a global citizen :
I starting using Facebook in 2011 and used it till 2013 to connect and keep in touch with the people I personally knew in my real life and with none outside my country or other people I personally did not know.
While my job with a Bank in Mumbai, I thought to connect with professionals in abroad on LinkedIn. During this process I randomly I found Mr. Rehan Allahwala on LinkedIn. Being strange, unique surname, I searched about him on different social network and websites and found very interesting and added him also on Facebook.
After a brief conversation on chat with him, I remember, he asked "Should I introduce to more people?" and I happily said yes. Then I was connected to aprx. 6-700 people of my personal network.
Since that day till now he kept me introduce to new people more from Pakistan and from everywhere from different countries of the world.
Before knowing through Facebook, I personally did not know or talk anyone from Pakistan, neither I was comfortable to talk or meet any Pakistani national. Reason being what all I heard about Pakistan from people around me and what I watched and read in news channels, news papers of my country and western countries.
About Pakistan, an interesting incident happened with me when I was in Dubai during 2008-09 for my job. I went to a saloon for my hair cut and shaving and cursorily asked the hairdresser where he belongs to. And he said "Pakistan". after hearing it that he was from Pakistan, I thought I did the biggest mistake of my life that I asked him where he belong to, and I was afraid the if he too asks about me and I say India, he is going to cut my neck here right now, But thank God, he asked nothing and I saved myself by leaving the place as soon as done with the hair dressing.
Today, because of Facebook and Rehan Allahwala (a great people connector), alhamdulillah I connected to thousands of people from Pakistan and met in person more than hundred in India, Dubai and Pakistan during my visit to Lahore and Karachi in 2016.
Facebook is an amazing platform for bridge building and people like Rehan Allah using it at its best to fill the gap of hate, fight and enmity between different countries, religions, secs and groups around the world and specially areas having conflicts.
He also runs a project "500 mutual friends experiment" which I found very useful to meet different, amazing people from around the world who are always helpful for understanding, learning, friendship and about everything in life which can help people learn & grow and achieve their goals faster.
Thanks for your time reading this.
