Dimensions

0th Dimension – The Point

You find a single glowing dot on a page.
No length, no width, no height. Just a pure “location”.
• It doesn’t go anywhere.
• It doesn’t move.
• It just is.

This is the 0th dimension: a point.

1st Dimension – The Line

Now the dot starts to stretch.

It becomes a straight line.
• You can move forward or backward on this line.
• No left–right, no up–down. Only one direction.

This is the 1st dimension: length.

2nd Dimension – The Flat World

The line now spreads sideways and becomes a sheet of paper.

Welcome to Flatland.
• You can move forward–backward and left–right.
• No “up” or “down.” Everything is flat, like drawings on paper.

This is the 2nd dimension: length + width.

3rd Dimension – Our Everyday World

The paper lifts up and becomes a box.

Now you can move:
• Forward–backward
• Left–right
• Up–down

This is the world you know: chairs, trees, people, planets.

This is the 3rd dimension: length + width + height.

4th Dimension – Time

You walk through this 3D world, but things change:
• You wake up.
• You eat.
• You grow older.

To describe reality fully, we must say where you are and when you are there.

So we add time as a new dimension.
• A 3D object traced through time becomes a 4D “tube” of its whole history.

This is the 4th dimension: space + time (spacetime).

5th Dimension – Different Timelines of One Universe

Now the Library of Reality gets interesting.

Imagine a book of your life in this universe:
• In one version, you chose engineering.
• In another, you chose medicine.
• In another, you dropped out and started a company.

All these are different possible timelines starting from the same universe with the same laws of physics, but with different choices and outcomes.

The 5th dimension is like a shelf containing all possible timelines that could happen in this one universe.

6th Dimension – All Possible Timelines, Any Starting Point

In the 5th dimension, we started from one beginning (for example, the Big Bang of this universe) and looked at different paths.

In the 6th dimension, we are allowed to:
• Jump to any point in any possible timeline of this universe.
• Connect all those possible timelines into one big map.

If the 5th dimension is many “roads” from one starting city,
the 6th dimension is the complete road map of every possible route between every city in this same-universe reality.

7th Dimension – A Different Universe (Different Rules)

So far, we stayed inside our universe’s rules:
• Same speed of light.
• Same gravity rules.
• Same kinds of particles.

Now imagine another book of reality where the laws of physics are different.

Example:
• Maybe gravity is stronger.
• Maybe electrons don’t exist.
• Maybe there’s no such thing as light.

This is a totally different universe, with its own Big Bang and its own possibilities.

The 7th dimension is like stepping from our universe-book into a completely different universe-book, with a different rule set.

8th Dimension – All Timelines of All Universes (Same “type”)

In the 7th dimension, we picked one alternate universe.

In the 8th dimension, we look at:
• All possible timelines of that universe,
• All possible universes with different starting conditions,
• But still within some “family” of similar mathematical rules.

If the 7th dimension is one new universe-book,
the 8th dimension is a whole bookshelf of different universes and every possible timeline inside each one.

9th Dimension – Every Possible Universe with Every Possible Rule Set

Now we go even bigger.

In the 9th dimension, we include:
• Every possible universe,
• With every possible set of physical laws,
• And every possible timeline inside them.

This is like walking into a huge library with infinite shelves, and each shelf holds infinite books (each book = one universe + all its timelines).

10th Dimension – The “All-at-Once” Point

Now imagine compressing this entire infinite library—the:
• 3D spaces
• All times
• All timelines
• All universes
• All possible laws of physics

into one single “point” of pure possibility.

No difference between past or future, here or there, this universe or that universe.

Everything that can exist, in any way, is contained there as pure information.

That “point” is how people poetically describe the 10th dimension:
a state where every possible and imaginable reality exists at once.

Important Note

This 10-dimension story is:
• Based on certain interpretations of string theory and popular science explanations.
• It is not a proven physical reality we can test today.
• It’s a model to help our brains think about very advanced math and physics.
