Go slowly !
By Jessica Knobloch

Go slowly, like honey spilling from a spoon,
or the hush between heartbeats
when you first step outside
and notice the way the light
threads gold through the trees.

Walk slowly,
and the path will bloom for you
a daisy pushing through a crack in the concrete,
a snail dragging galaxies across damp stone.
What once seemed small becomes miraculous
when you give it the time to breathe.

Clean slowly
and find a letter tucked in a forgotten drawer,
dust dancing like fireflies in the morning sun.
There’s a photograph,
creased and faded,
but somehow still holding the sound of laughter
from a version of you that loved without armor.

Live slowly,
and you may find that doing one thing well
feels better than doing ten things fast.
That sweeping the floor
can be a prayer.
That chopping vegetables
can be a poem.

Love slowly
not out of fear,
but reverence.
Let your fingertips learn the shape of another’s soul
the way rivers learn the contours of the earth,
with patience,
with grace.

We are taught to rush,
but the world reveals herself
in moments that ask for stillness:
the pause before a heron takes flight,
the breath held in awe beneath a meteor shower,
the silence after a song ends
but before anyone dares to speak.

So go slowly.
And you might just find
you were never behind.
You were simply being shown
the beauty
that is only found in stillness.
