Talking with many of our new Pakistani friends, one thing became clear - there are so many people in Pakistan, especially muslims, who feel the pain of religious intolerance of any kind, and deeply want peace. They are courageously reaching out to connect with people around the world to promote friendship and understanding. Perhaps some are aware of their collective impact, and some are not… They just want to reach out and connect to people from different parts of the world, expand their horizons and increase their understanding. But I believe this is actually a revolutionary movement where thousands of people having conversations on blogs, social media, private messaging etc, is actually literally forging the bonds of world peace. It is "digital activism", of the most peaceful kind. Anyway, last night during one of these conversations, Ali Zain said to me: "Actually many people on facebook stopped chatting when I told I am Muslim .it was bitter experience .and it hurts too .But after conversation with you I am happy." But I know I'm not the only one. In Sydney last year, the #illridewithyou hashtag went Viral. 120 000 tweets. There are a lot of westerners who are ready and willing to stand for peace and harmony between religious groups. So we thought - why don't we create a Facebook group where these kind of connections can happen? We are going to do it an you will be invited. In the meantime, I am wondering - what would be the best name for a group like this?
