One day, a man asked Mulla Nasrudin, “What is the most important thing in life?”
Mulla smiled and said, “Knowing when to speak and when to remain silent.”
The man asked, “Why?”
Mulla replied, “Because a wise person can learn something by listening, but a foolish person can reveal everything by speaking too much.”
The man thought about it and nodded.
Mulla smiled and added, “That is why I have two ears and only one mouth!”
Everyone around them laughed.
Moral: Listen carefully, think wisely, and speak only when necessary.
