Mulla Nasruddin and the Magical Mirror
Once upon a time, Sultan of a great kingdom heard about a difficult problem troubling his people. No one could find a clever solution, so the Sultan called Mulla Nasruddin to the palace.
The Sultan gave Mulla a magical mirror and said, “This mirror shows the truth. Use it wisely and solve the problem.”
Mulla looked into the mirror and noticed something strange. Whenever a person looked at it, the mirror showed not their face, but their true intentions.
Mulla took the mirror to the marketplace. He asked the people involved in the problem to look into it. A greedy merchant, who had been blaming an innocent man, looked into the mirror and became embarrassed when he saw his own greed.
Mulla smiled and said, “Sometimes, the biggest problem is not outside us. It is hidden inside our own hearts.”
The merchant admitted his mistake and returned what he had taken. The innocent man was freed, and peace returned to the marketplace.
The Sultan was amazed by Mulla's wisdom.
“You solved the problem without using the mirror to punish anyone,” said the Sultan.
Mulla replied, “Your Majesty, the mirror only showed the truth. The real magic was helping people see their own mistakes.”
Moral
True wisdom is not about finding faults in others; it is about having the courage to see and correct our own mistakes.
