One day, Mulla Nasruddin wanted to find the most honest person in his town.
He walked through the market and saw a man who had found a wallet full of money.
The man looked around and said, “Someone must have lost this. I should return it to its owner.”
Mulla Nasruddin followed him and watched as he asked people around the market if the wallet belonged to them.
Finally, the real owner came running and described the wallet perfectly. The honest man returned it without taking a single coin. π₯Ή
Mulla Nasruddin smiled and said, “Today, I have found the most honest man in our town—not because he had money, but because he chose to do the right thing when nobody was forcing him.”
The honest man replied, “Doing the right thing is its own reward.”
