Mulla Nasrudin’s Missing Ring
One day, Mulla Nasrudin was sitting peacefully in his house when he suddenly realized that his precious ring was missing. He immediately began searching everywhere—under the carpet, near the table, inside his pockets, and even in the garden—but he could not find it anywhere. After searching for a long time, Mulla went outside and started looking around the village. Some villagers saw him searching and asked, “Mulla, what are you looking for?” Mulla replied, “I have lost my beautiful ring, and I cannot find it anywhere!” The villagers felt sorry for him and began helping him search. Everyone looked around the streets, near the shops, and in the market. After some time, one clever child asked, “Mulla, where did you last see your ring?” Mulla thought for a moment and said, “I think I saw it inside my house.” The child was surprised and asked, “Then why are we searching outside?” Mulla smiled and replied, “Because there is more light outside!” Everyone burst into laughter when they heard his clever answer. Mulla then explained, “Sometimes people search where it is easy to look instead of where the answer actually is.” The villagers understood the lesson and admired Mulla’s wisdom.
Moral: We should not always choose the easiest place to search; sometimes we need to think carefully and look where the problem actually began.
