# Mulla Nasrudin & the Donkey's Price
One sunny morning, Mulla Nasrudin went to the village market to buy a donkey. He found a strong-looking donkey standing beside a farmer.
“How much do you want for this donkey?” Nasrudin asked.
“Fifty gold coins,” replied the farmer.
Nasrudin looked at the donkey carefully. He checked its ears, its teeth, and even its hooves.
“Hmm… I will give you thirty coins,” he said.
The farmer shook his head. “No, Mulla. The donkey is worth fifty.”
Nasrudin smiled and walked away.
The next day, Nasrudin returned to the market. The farmer was still trying to sell the donkey.
“I will give you forty coins,” Nasrudin offered.
“Still no,” said the farmer. “I want fifty.”
Nasrudin smiled again. “All right. But before I buy it, let me ask the donkey what he thinks.”
The farmer laughed. “Donkeys cannot talk!”
Nasrudin replied, “Exactly! If he cannot tell me his price, how can you expect me to pay yours?”
Everyone in the market burst out laughing.
The farmer finally understood that Nasrudin was joking and offered him the donkey for forty coins.
Nasrudin bought the donkey and happily rode home.
**Moral:** Sometimes a clever question can be more valuable than a big price.
