A washerman had a donkey who was very lazy. Every day, the donkey tried to avoid work and pretended to be tired. One day, the washerman filled his sacks with cotton, but the donkey felt it was too heavy and sat down. The washerman got angry and replaced the cotton with salt the next day. The donkey again sat in the water to rest, and the salt dissolved, making the load lighter. Thinking this was smart, he did it again. The next day, the washerman filled the sacks with sponges. The donkey sat in the water, but this time the sponges soaked water and became heavier. The donkey learned his lesson.
Moral: Laziness and tricks dont work forever.
ایک دھوبی کے پاس ایک گدھا تھا جو بہت سست تھا۔ وہ روز کام سے بچنے کے لیے بہانے بناتا اور تھکاوٹ کا ڈرامہ کرتا۔ ایک دن دھوبی نے اس کی پیٹھ پر روئی کی بوریاں رکھیں، لیکن گدھے کو وزن زیادہ لگا اور وہ پانی میں بیٹھ گیا۔ دھوبی ناراض ہوا اور اگلے دن بوریوں میں نمک بھر دیا۔ گدھا پھر سے پانی میں بیٹھا تو نمک گھل گیا اور بوجھ ہلکا ہو گیا۔ گدھا خوش ہوا اور سمجھا کہ یہ ترکیب کامیاب ہے۔ اگلے دن دھوبی نے بوریاں سپنج سے بھر دیں۔ گدھا پانی میں بیٹھا تو سپنج نے پانی جذب کر لیا اور وزن اور بڑھ گیا۔ گدھے کو سبق مل گیا۔
اخلاقی سبق: سستی اور چالاکی ہمیشہ نہیں چلتی۔
