I am Sitwat Ahmed !

I am 54 years young, as I do feel that I am 54 years old. However, I do have the wisdom beyond my years due to the challenges I faced in my life, and they shaped the person I am today.
I consider myself a human being first and the labels that are attached to me later.
I am a single mother raising two beautiful daughters. The older one is 31 years old and the younger one is 13 years old. They are my pride and joy.
My eldest daughter is Deaf. Thus, to communicate with her, I learned American Sign language by going back to school when she was 7 years old.

I am fluent in ASL, Urdu English, and french.

I grew up in Mauritius, France, and Pakistan.

I have a bachelors degree and a number of certifications in French language from the Ministry of Education in France along with a diploma in the Sign Language interpreter program from a Canadian College.

My professional journey started in Pakistan many years ago. American Express, Chase Manhattan Bank, and ABN Amro are the institutions where I used to work. I wanted to be a banker just like my father.
Then I got married. .. and my professional journey was halted for a few years.

When I came to Canada, I went back to school. After that, I started working at Deaf and disability services of the same college where I graduated from.

All this while I felt something missing in my professional life. There was no spark. No passion.

It was during the pandemic, at the start of it, I started tutoring French online via Zoom, ising google Workspace
Canada is a bilingual country with English and French as their official languages. I had found my passion.

Now I teach Baccalaureate level high school students, young and old, as well as people in the government who want to give professional exams. I have also recently started a conversation classes which I want to see expanded into a French club.

Oh my goodness, I rambled on. Apologies for the long introduction.

My wish. aim and goal is to leave a better world for my daughters through deeds.
We volunteer at different places. Also, I do not want them to become what I envision for them but for them to discover for themselves who and they want to be!

Do connect
