Much is written about companies that fail to reinvent themselves - Blockbuster, Kodak etc. - but we rarely celebrate the ones that did.
Samsung started as a grocery business.
Nokia was a paper mill.
American Express delivered mail.
Western Union offered telegrams.
Shell sold... decorative seashells.
As someone who worked most of my career in start-ups and much younger tech companies, I find stories like this fascinating.
Satya Nadella once said “Longevity in business is about being able to reinvent yourself”.
