Mulla Nasrudin's Missing Ring
One cool evening , Mulla Nasrudin was walking around outside his house when he suddenly realized that his favorite ring was missing. The ring was very special to him because he had worn it for many years . He searched his pockets , checked his clothes , and looked all around the house , but he could not find it. Feeling worried , Mulla went outside and started searching under a bright street lamp .
As he carefully looked at the ground , a few neighbors noticed him. Seeing Mulla searching so seriously, they came over to help. “What are you looking for, Mulla?” they asked. “I have lost my ring ,” Mulla replied sadly . Being kind people , the neighbors immediately joined the search. Everyone looked under the lamp, checking every corner and every little stone .
Minutes turned into hours . The group searched everywhere around the lamp post but still could not find the ring. Finally, one neighbor asked, “Mulla, can you tell us exactly where you lost the ring?” Mulla calmly answered, “I lost it inside my house.”
The neighbors were shocked . “Inside your house?!” they exclaimed. “Then why are we searching out here under the street lamp?”
Mulla smiled and pointed to the bright light above them . “Because the light is much better here!”
The neighbors could not believe what they had heard . They laughed at Mulla’s strange logic , but his answer also carried an important lesson . Many people search for answers where it is easiest and most comfortable , instead of looking where the real problem actually exists . They avoid difficult places and hard work , even when that is where the solution can be found.
Moral of the Story:
