علی انکل، thank you for believing in a 12-year-old boy.

    I will remember you.
I will remember what you taught me.
And InshaAllah, I will try to carry your kindness forward.

    اللہ حافظ، علی انکل۔

ہم پھر ملیں گے، ان شاء اللہ۔

  • Assalamu alaykum, Rehan. Heres an idea that is worth your time:

A web site that teaches languages for free, rated as better than Rosetta Stone software.

Here is a Ted Talk that the founder of the site gave: http://youtu.be/-Ht4qiDRZE8.

Today there are six languages on-line, and 10,000,000 users. But since October 9, 2013, the site has invited native speakers of other languages to step forward to add their language to the site. It is a process that will take less time the more people participate. The first step of the process will be teaching speakers of the foreign language how to speak English. Then that data will be used to teach English speakers the foreign language. Finally, the collected data will allow speakers of any language to learn any other language.

The business model of the site that explains why the site is free for language learners is explained in the video.

I want you to consider recruiting people to add Urdu to the site. Once Urdu to English is accomplished, it will be easier to add Urdu to Chinese, Urdu to French, Urdu to etc., etc.

    They need to visit http://incubator.duolingo.com

If you know speakers of Fushaa Arabic -- Arabic free of any dialects, not the language of the streets of Cairo, buit the language of AlJazeera, of academia, etc. Then encourage them, too.

Again, the more people are involved, the faster the language will come on-line inshaAllah.

If Urdu is added, millions of Pakistanis will benefit inshaAllah, and Urdu will be preserved, too, inshaAllah as an easy to learn language. When Arabic is added, inshaAllah, billions of people will have better access to the Quran, assuming that Fushaa is added as opposed to a dialect.

Sorry for the long message. But I think you will agree with me that this project has the capacity to change the world as we know it. And I know that will interest you.

  • Why Are Muslims Immersed in Arabic but Still Don’t Understand It?

Every day, millions of us read Quran, pray in Arabic, hear the azan, and use phrases like SubhanAllah and InshaAllah. We are surrounded by Arabic—but still, most Muslims don’t understand it. Why?

    Here are some real reasons:
    1. Passive vs. Active Learning – We hear Arabic but rarely use it to think, speak, or understand.
    2. Ritual Focus – Arabic is often treated as sacred, not as a living language for everyday communication.
    3. Limited Context – Most exposure is during prayer. We don’t use Arabic in daily life—so it doesn’t stick.
    4. Too Much Translation – We rely on translations, instead of building our own connection with the language.
    5. Old Teaching Methods – Memorization without interaction leads to boredom, not understanding.
    6. No Motivation – Arabic feels “too hard” or “just for scholars.”

    But we can change this.

    ⸻

Here are 7 fun ways to start understanding Arabic—every day, even without a teacher:
    1. Set your phone’s language to Arabic – You’ll learn words by association.
    2. Watch kids’ cartoons in Arabic – Shows like Dora the Explorer or Peppa Pig in Arabic are simple and fun!
    3. Use Quranic Arabic word apps – Try apps like “Al-Muwathaq” or “Quranic” to learn root words easily.
    4. Label objects at home in Arabic – Mirror = مرآة, Door = باب. Simple and powerful.
    5. Speak 1 Arabic sentence daily – Start with things like: “أنا أحب القهوة” (I love coffee).
    6. Listen to Arabic Nasheeds with subtitles – Understand spiritual songs you already enjoy.
    7. Talk to AI in Arabic – Use tools like ChatGPT or CallAnny to chat in Arabic and get corrections.

    ⸻

Make Arabic a living language in your life. Not just a ritual—make it your own.

Who’s in for a 30-day Arabic immersion challenge?
