TEDx Talk Review:Academic Research Is Publicly Funded — Why Isn't It Publicly Available? – Erica Stone
In this thought-provoking TEDx Talk, Erica Stone explores an important question about academic research: if research is funded by public money, why isn't it always freely available to everyone? The talk highlights the importance of making knowledge accessible to students, teachers, researchers, and the general public.
Academic research plays a vital role in education, science, healthcare, and technological development. However, expensive journal subscriptions and restricted access can prevent many people from benefiting from valuable discoveries. Open access offers a possible solution by making research available to a wider audience.
Through this TEDx Talk, I learned that sharing knowledge can encourage innovation, improve education, and create more opportunities for learning. It also helped me understand why equal access to information is important for building a better and more informed society.
Knowledge becomes more powerful when everyone has the opportunity to learn from it!
