  • Several other developed countries have gone through significant transformations similar to Irelands, where they moved from poverty and underdevelopment to becoming prosperous and advanced economies. Here are a few examples:

    ### 1. **South Korea**
    - **Past Situation**: After the Korean War (1950-1953), South Korea was one of the poorest countries in the world, with its economy mostly based on agriculture.
    - **Transformation**: Starting in the 1960s, South Korea implemented a series of economic reforms focused on industrialization, export-led growth, and education. The government also played a key role in supporting industries like electronics, automobiles, and shipbuilding.
    - **Present**: Today, South Korea is one of the worlds leading economies, known for its technological advancements and high standard of living. Companies like Samsung, Hyundai, and LG are global giants, and South Koreas per capita income is over $30,000.

    ### 2. **Singapore**
    - **Past Situation**: When Singapore gained independence in 1965, it was a small, resource-poor country with a diverse population and high levels of unemployment and poverty.
    - **Transformation**: Under the leadership of Lee Kuan Yew, Singapore focused on developing a clean, efficient government, attracting foreign investment, and building a strong education system. The country also became a major global trading hub and financial center.
    - **Present**: Singapore is now one of the richest countries in the world, with a per capita income of over $65,000. It is known for its high quality of life, advanced infrastructure, and world-class education system.

    ### 3. **Taiwan**
    - **Past Situation**: After World War II, Taiwan was largely agrarian with a weak economy. The island faced significant challenges, including political instability and lack of resources.
    - **Transformation**: Taiwan focused on land reform, developing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and later on, high-tech industries like semiconductors and electronics. The government supported this growth through investment in education and infrastructure.
    - **Present**: Taiwan is now a leading player in the global tech industry, particularly in the production of semiconductors. Its per capita income is around $33,000, and it has a strong, diversified economy.

    ### 4. **Finland**
    - **Past Situation**: In the early 20th century, Finland was a relatively poor, agrarian country with limited industrial development. It also suffered greatly during World War II.
    - **Transformation**: Finland invested heavily in education and innovation, which laid the foundation for a high-tech economy. The country focused on sectors like telecommunications, with companies like Nokia becoming global leaders.
    - **Present**: Finland is now one of the most developed countries in the world, with a per capita income of over $55,000. It is known for its excellent education system, strong social welfare, and high quality of life.

    ### 5. **Japan**
    - **Past Situation**: After World War II, Japan was devastated by war, with much of its infrastructure destroyed and its economy in ruins.
    - **Transformation**: Japan focused on rebuilding its industries, particularly in manufacturing and technology. With government support, Japan became a leader in automobiles, electronics, and robotics. Education and innovation were also key drivers of growth.
    - **Present**: Japan is now the third-largest economy in the world, with a per capita income of around $40,000. It is known for its advanced technology, strong manufacturing base, and high standard of living.

    ### What Pakistan Can Learn
These countries demonstrate that even nations starting with significant challenges can achieve remarkable economic success through strategic planning, investment in education and technology, and strong governance. Like Ireland, these countries prioritized education, particularly in areas like technology and innovation, and created environments that attracted foreign investment and fostered local industries. By learning from these examples, Pakistan can identify pathways to improve its own economic situation and develop into a prosperous and advanced country.

  • Pakistani’s - wherever they are, their heart beats with Pakistan. They love the country as much as those who live in the land. Many migrated for economic reasons, still many others have made temporary abode outside to provide families with better living. Irrespective of why they are abroad, for most the love for country, their yearning to see Pakistan progress is unquestionable. To deprive them of right to vote and be a part of decision making process in my book was a criminal act. Sooner it was corrected the better: Better late than never and so happy that finally they have gotten their right to Vote. All Pakistani’s registered with NADRA should have had a right to vote irrespective of location. Now they have and it is just superb.

Equally delighted the move towards technology for elections. Technology is the present and future. We can delay it but cannot escape it. Delaying usage of Technology in almost every field has costed the country beyond imagination. While world progresses at the back of Technology innovation & adaption, we in this country continued our romance with paper and manual processes - which is proven error prone and further corruption - sure enough it did. We have stayed behind. Happy that Government of Imran Khan has made this bold decision to make this move. Should have been done years ago but better late than never.

Heartiest congratulations to all overseas Pakistani’s for getting a voice. Superb news for all countrymen for making a major move towards the use of Technology in country’s decision making process.
