Some were huge plant-eaters, while others were meat-eaters. Scientists study their fossils, bones, and footprints to learn about their lives. About 66 million years ago, most dinosaurs disappeared after a major extinction event, likely caused by a huge asteroid impact. However, birds today are the living descendants of a group of dinosaurs.
