Mulla Nasruddin and the Clever Lesson
One quiet evening, Mulla Nasruddin was returning home after visiting the market. As he walked down a lonely road, a thief quietly followed him, hoping to steal his money.
When the thief saw an opportunity, he stepped forward and demanded, “Give me everything you have!”
Mulla smiled calmly and handed over a small pouch. The thief eagerly opened it, expecting to find gold, but it contained only a few coins and some pebbles.
Confused, the thief asked, “Is this all you have?”
Mulla replied, “The greatest treasure I carry is not in my pocket—it is in my mind. A thief can steal money, but he can never steal wisdom.”
The thief felt embarrassed. Mulla then said, “If you used your strength and courage to work honestly instead of stealing, you would earn far more than these few coins.”
The thief realized his mistake. Ashamed of his actions, he returned the pouch and promised to change his life. From that day on, he worked honestly and never stole again.
Moral
Wisdom is more valuable than wealth, and honesty always leads to a better life.
