Dear Mark Zuckerberg,
Thank You for all you have done for the planet in the shape of Facebook.
Facebook has been a fundamental part of me since it went global in 2006, and Since that time I have been giving most of my life to bring people to use Facebook.
Facebook did what you made it for very very well, better than it’s other Competition at that time because of the clean user interface and speed of things it did things.
It gave information about the person, which enabled the communication between the 2 human’s very quickly, it showed their names, schools, gender, ages, likes, dislikes, and goals in life along with a face which allowed people to read the other person.
When I was growing up my biggest challenge was to be able to introduce myself and ask for intro of others, Believe it or not I think it is still the number one social problem of the world today, as no one has really taught us how to introduce ourselves, who we are, and on top of that the globalisation via Facebook allows us to open up to anyone in the world, and we do not know how to interact with humans of other cultures.
So for me Facebook became my personal CRM where I was able to manage my networks. Then As a person who wanted to introduce others to others, ( connect with purpose) I was sitting for 8 to 12 hours a day introducing people manually to other people who might be of benefit to other people.
So my day would be like talking about Facebook, helping people get on Facebook, and then connecting networks of people to each other, people around me used to think I am a spy as I kept asking for their information to put online and majority thought I work for Facebook, some very brave enough to ask what my salary was from Facebook or if I Owned it.
Later in 2015 I started a social experiment where I offered to give free laptops to people who will use Facebook and make my Facebook friends as theirs to see what social and economic benefit this brings to them and ended up giving 500 laptops as a gift from my pocket to people.
Today when I meet people, they all know about Facebook and do have an account, and it has become very easy for me to help them change their life to make it better in many ways just by adding a few new friends on Facebook.
Facebook has given me a very large voice, it has made me who I am , and It is what I live on.
AOL:
Many who know America Online or AOL can see how Facebook is AOL version 2.0 a better version of it, without the internet part of it, as it created it’s own universe within the internet. Steve Case the founder of AOL also a very visionary man, went ahead and bought can / time Warner because he could see and convince time Warner that the future of media was internet, but this is before we had broadband or broadband was very new, but that deal got him side tracked from his core business and today they are no where to be found.
I think Steve case was right, just like you are right about Metaverse but there are 2 error’s I See in this vision. The Human ability to change and reach to the masses.
They say Alexander the Great wanted to conquer the world so that he can bring peace of the world, he wanted to have one country one language to the few million people alive at that time, so people would not fight any more, and if today anyone has done it it is you, who has connected the world, and made the world’s biggest country in the world forcing people to speak one language as much as they could , because they can.
I was reading an article yesterday, which proved me righting to you, asking you to focus on your primary business, which reminded me the same advise someone gave me in 2004 when I went bank corrupt trying to build the first international call center in Pakistan when the bandwidth price was $70,000 per megabyte and voip was not mature enough. I lost every thing I had and I had to start over.
I want to request you the same, to please bring your focus back on connecting people, 5 billion of the 8 billion people in the world do not have Facebook, we do not even know how many people are in the world, you have been given power to connect them, give them internet, bring them to talk to each other, evolve their humanity by connecting them to people and ideas around the world, and we as humanity wont need to spend 2000 billion dollar a year protecting ourselves from each other.
What things Facebook is doing incorrectly ?
Facebook changes everything before the user understands what is happening, The basic fundamental bio section has been removed from Facebook professional version and I saw a notification that all that will be gone next year, taking away the primary reason of me using Facebook.
The speed of change you bring is too fast for common user of internet, who has just started to use internet due to WhatsApp and smart phone, before that, these people did not know what internet is and what it can do for the, Unlike you and me who started to use internet in 1990’s these people are not able to comprehend what internet is yet as it is so new, their cultures , their wiring of their brain is very different than people using internet for a longer time.
My son who is a geek is unable to login to Facebook account because he lost his phone in water, and it does not work, and we have tried so hard to get into our account and not able to, 2 weeks a go my other sons account got hacked and we were not able to get in for 2 weeks, I think these are so simple problem that your team can and should solve before going to solve bigger problems or innovation.
Many years a go I got bored of my own business, because I was not able to innovate anything, and I stopped growing it, My interest has been always in inventing new idea’s which no one has seen before, and I think yours is or may be same, but I think the man who can learn chinese in a year, and commit to making his own ai for home county has the discipline to understand how important it is to get Facebook in every human’s hand and help them see the world differently by connecting them to humans around the world, who earn differently than them, think differently than them, and have different beliefs because that will bring them to realisation, and opportunity to evolve.
2 billion humans still live under $2 a day and your Facebook zero has given them opportunity to come out of their circle of belief, and change themselves.
My 500 mutual friend experiment proved that just by changing your Facebook friends, you can change yourself, and if this is done systematically by Facebook, Facebook has power to bring world peace, make people collaborate as humans more, and get rid of nuclear threat, and climate threat, and understand the AI threat and world can work as a better collective.
I urge you to postpone your Metaverse project a few more years in the future, when humanity is more evolved and can really understand the genius of it, but for now, we all need to be able to talk to each other and connect with each other more.
