  • My speech for Protest and Solidarity with Gaza Rally

    My Dear Brothers and Sisters,

My Heart Cries, and My soul shiver’s when I see the Dreadful Photos from Gaza, and when I hear what is going on and how helpless these people are in this small peace of land.

This is not the first time that the history is repeating it self, When Human’s are killed, and we are left to a state where our brain’s stop working, on what should we do.

Over the years I have Managed to get 10,000+ People on my facebook page from Palestine and many as my friends on my profile.

I talked to Hundreds of them, and Today I wish to share with you my learnings, after my conversation with them.

Now this is MY conversation, in attempt to understand what really is happening, and Please remember that I am still a student of life and this situation.

Talking to these brothers and sisters also helped immensely in learning arabic, and to understand what are the problems of a society that is not getting ideas from anywhere else accept the people around them.

Most of the people in Palestine, and Specially in Gaza speak only Arabic, Most are educated, and many highly educated, but their english skills are very low, Most do not have jobs, and most live on money which is sent to them from over seas by their family members or in form of aid.

Most of them are depressed, and wish to leave the country due to the problems, or want to study even more, to get jobs as they feel that with this they can get jobs over sea’s.

When I tell them to work online, or study online, this idea is foreign to them and they are not very keen on doing it, as they have not seen it yet to believe it.

My brothers and sisters, who are reading this, I have spent a LOT of my time, A lot of money, and neglected the people around me, including my own company and Family, due to this issue of Palestine, So that I can try to understand and have a better understanding of the issue and see it with my own eyes.

I have yet to be physically there, but I feel that I have many friends their who I live with, who I feel, and Who I care for DEEPLY to help them in any way or form that I can.

In this process, I have managed to make many many great friends, brothers and sisters, one of whom wanted donate to me acres of Millions of Dollars worth of land, for me to come to Ramallah and make Rehan University as a Physical entity there to help the people of Palestine.

I just like you wish to help them, as we as ummah are all one.

I request you today to please reach out to these people, find 100 of them via Facebook and talk to them, condole them, adopt them as your brother and sister in islam, and talk to them, Learn Arabic from them and teach them english, as it is a natural process that will happen when you will try to talk to them.

Then introduce them to people who can guide them on how they can work online via internet, using great websites like Elance.com, freelancer.com and Fiverr.com , RehanTasks.com, Rehanwork.com

Do business with them, do trade with them, see if you can hire them for some of your work over the internet for your business, to do work for you in the arabic world for you, as they Arabic is pure, and they can help you grow your business in the Arab world.

To find them, simply go on your Facebook search bar and type, People living in Palestine and your search will start, and the journey will begin.

in the End, I just want to tell you that I think that the situation is Palestine is NOT as it seem to us, I encourage you to investigate it, find more about it, and not just listen to any media, but talk to the real people on the ground, and try to get to the bottom of the problem, as only by understanding all side’s is a problem solved.

May Allah be with all of us, and may human being’s finally learn how to collectively live in peace, like we used to live in Cordoba and Toledo in Spain and many other places today in the world.

    God bless you all,

My Name is Rehan Allahwala, I would be honored if we can stay in touch on Facebook, Do add me.

    1) Get yourself registered on the largest Freelancing portal Upwork.com

    2) Identify your skills: You will need to find out your skill you are good at magnetizable on Freelancing portal, Upwork in this case. Check out Skills trends on Upwork and browse the categories you feel you better fits in. Read the description and project requirement to have an idea.

    3) Profile Development: Take a good time creating a great profile having all your skills, experiences, profile overview, portfolio. This is a one time job and would help you for life. Profile is just like a resume you use for conventional jobs and a face of yours. Browse other competitors of yours on the platforms. Eg: if you are a writer create a list of a at least 50 writers offering their services on Upwork. Each and every part of your profile should be better then all the 50 top competitors of yours may it be your profile picture, Title, Profile overview, Portfolio, Experience, Education, tags etc. By this I mean to say that It should be more precise and better presented.

Make sure your profile is optimized for the skills you identified in step 2. Be good at one thing rather then being jack of all trades. If you are a writer create your profile accordingly. Dont be a writer and a web developer at the same time. People prefer experts. The more specific you can be the better.

    4) Skills Test: Take all the skills test relevant to your field. The more tests you pass with higher score the better. Pass minimum 4 tests including the 2 Upwork tests which have only 11 questions and links of the resources would be mention there. You can always retake.

    5) Find the right job: There is an upper cape on the maximum number of jobs you can apply per month. With a basic account you can apply to a 60 jobs per month. Thats 2 per day. Where as the jobs posted per day in your category whether that is web development, writing and translation or administrative support. Check out all the jobs posted in last 24 hours and select the best 2 better fit your skills, expertise and interest on the basis of clients rating, previous job history, contractors feedback to the client, availability etc

    6) Applying to the job: Once you find the right job to apply you can push the "Apply" button. Being a newbie on the platform give the minimum rate possible (in start). Minimum hourly rate on hourlly project is $3 per hour. It can be anything on fixed price jobs.

    7) Cover Letter: Not most of people rightly use the cover letter in the conventional jobs but on freelancing platform it matters the most. This is a box which gives you a chance to freelancer to talk to the buyer regarding the posted position. NO COPY PASTE COVER LETTER. Read the job description. Tell the client what you understand out of it, what relevant skills do you have, any relevant experience if there is any, why are you the right fit for this position and if you are immediately available to start off, Sometimes you might want to go more deep and discuss the scope of the project and discuss the timeline too (if enough details are provided).

Again, Cover letter is the most important part of the process. Dont copy paste a template and writer a personalized cover letter for every job you apply.

    Best Practices:

    1) Check out Upwork official blog there are detailed articles on each of the minute process. Go through them, bookmark them for reference.

    2) Follow Upwork on all the social networks.

    3) Speak to Upworks Phone, chat, Email support and ask as many questions as possible. They dont bite!

    4) Be patient, confident, realistic and consistent. You are new on the platform and going to compete with the most experienced one. So it may take from a day upto a month to land your first job.

    5) Find out someone in your friends and family who are already working on Upwork and get your stuff reviewed by them. If you dont have any you can easily find experienced freelancers on facebook, twitter and nicely ask for help. You should know the right way to outreach people without wasting their lot of time. Talk less, Talk solid.

Anything I am missing you would like to add? Any question?

Recently I tried yo hire on elance, freelancer and upwork for my several projects. Though I am well aware that indians quality of work is better than the Pakistani developers but still being a Pakistani it was my desire to award it to a Pakistani. I interviewed several Pakistani and Indian developers but unfortunately none of Pakistani company could be selected. One of the main reasons were 1. Pakistani tend to show that they can do everything but their portfolio speaks otherwise. 2. They try to jump in everything, it is good but first develop a reasonable portfolio/experience. 3. I somehow felt that they were arrogant too like questioning them is against their integrity.
So I would recommend to offer free service on upwork for small projects. Tell them straight forward that u r free cause u want to make portfolio and customer have nothing to loose in case if they dont like your delivered work. Work for free 5 to 6 small projects, develop your portfolio and avoid attitude problems.
