  • Hi...

My name is Ami Dar and I am the director of Idealist.org. I started
Idealist in 1995 because ever since I was a boy growing up in Mexico
Ive believed that things dont have to be the way they are, and that
together we should be able to do much more about all the problems we
    see around us.

I still feel this way and I suspect you do as well. Thats why Im
    writing you now.

On Tuesday, March 11, Idealist will launch a new network—online and
on the ground, in cities, villages, schools and workplaces—that
will help people everywhere connect and take action on any issue that
concerns them, locally or globally, online and in person.

The heart of this movement will consist of people all over the world
who want to use every available tool—from social media to a
bulletin board on a village tree—to inspire and catalyze action and
    collaboration in their own communities.

If this is you, if you like new ideas and you enjoy connecting dots
and people, I hope you can join us.

Well start with a live online presentation, take your questions, and
then start building this movement together.

To accommodate people in every time zone, well do this twice, first
on March 11 at Noon EST (17:00 GMT), and then again that evening at
11:00 pm EST (4:00 am GMT on the 12th).

For more details about this event, to sign up, and to see how other
people around the world are responding, please click on this link:

    Idealist.org/March11

And for a bit more about why I think real change is possible, and why
we need your voice in this conversation, please click here:

    Idealist.org/invitation

Lastly, if you know other people who should also be at this table,
    please invite them too.

Thank you, and all the best to you and yours in 2014!

    Ami Dar
    Executive Director

  • Invite from Osama Manzar

Please accept my warmest greetings and also from Digital Empowerment Foundation! The reason of writing this mail to you is to apprise you that at DEF, the journey that we had started five years back under the knowledge platform called the mBillionth Award, has reached to an aggregate of more than 1200 mobile innovations which are not only a reflection of how mobile is changing the fate of India but also all its neighboring South Asian countries. I strongly believe that each one of you is its real stakeholder and you have directly or indirectly played your role in this. We also collectively have the onus to play wider change agents in this information revolution, where mobile is a tool that is in the hands of the masses, and if we do not use this opportunity then the larger population living in remote areas and at the edge of information, may never be able to come up to the level playing threshold. Thus, this email is to let you know, that on July 18th, at India Habitat Center in Delhi, more than 100 mobile and telecom players, including app developers, congregating to share their innovations that has been changing the society and would change even more if we all encourage them, support them, and collaborate with them. Please do find time to attend, participate, energize the valuable gathering and innovative practices. You may register here: http://mbillionth.in/register-now/ OR, you may just write back to me if you can manage to grace the occasion, and I will have the invite sent to you. • Read Bhai, Isnt there any way that we should make some thing like eesaal-e-sawaab... I mean every of our Muslim friend would have bound to give eesaal-e-sawaab to his dead friend...

Stupid question....? If yes then sorry for stupidity

    Answer:

When you write something on Facebook as Public, it is like writing a book, eventually someone will come up with a way to convert your entire facebook feed into a book,

You can also make videos and leave them behind with good things, as they will teach people even when you are gone.

Remember before there were only a few writers, and now there are billion of them and more are coming.

  • If you are a very angry person, and have a lot of anger, I Encourage you to take it out on the person in WRITING, and then look , what you did, and see if it was worth it.

If it was worth it, then upload it on your profile publicly and ask your friends to give you opinion about it.

It will help you get rid of your anger, as you MAY then be able to see with help of others what you are not able to see now, and once you see that, you will loose your anger.

  • I love this idea of Matt Lawson - What do you think about it ?

i had a dream last night that was more like a vision. you and i created a project that combined 5+ world religions into a organization that focused on food, shelter, medicine, education, love. we used business skills and life experience to build a world wide organization that mobilized faster than any military to heal and provide emergency aid to war and humanitarian victims. Much like Red Cross but with a much larger footprint. families who participated all have homes, food, education, etc.

in my dream there was a large city where many religions lived together. there was a main temple that was larger than a airport that connected the city. there was a holy music band that played 24 hours a day by each major religion. somehow in my dream the significance of the different religions playing continuous beautiful music 24 hours a day was important.

Men and Woman are equal and the different religious communities debated and came to logical resolutions so all were happy. The goal would be to bring world peace to all.

i am writing to you spontaneously. So please forgive my spontaneous correspondence.

    Cheers,
    Matt

  • Is there a lawyer here ? Can you answer my friend about the following:

Is Pakistani legal stuff based on english common law? I suspect india is and I know that Pakistan broke away from india but I dont know what they did with respect to their legal system

Pakistani law is based upon the legal system of British India; thus ultimately on the common law of England and Wales. -- that means that its similar but not identical to what I am learning now, and what I have learned since I started law as a hobby in 1992 which means it might be possible for me to do some introductory level law classes for your school. it would by no means by anything overly complex but like law for business owners or whtaever it would take a good amount of research on my part though to learn the differences between there and here. near as I can tell there are 3 basic legal systems globally. common law (from the UK), civil law (from ancient rome) and sharia law (from either the quoran or muhammeds other writings I am unsure where exactly it comes from)

I know jewish law is also different, its based on the torah as its superceding law and then laws of man but am unsure which type of legal system they have. and I suspect there are other smaller localized legal systems elsewhere in the world. but those are the 3 biggest

I do not know much about sharia law but I do know that it varies greatly from place to place, ruler to ruler. Iran for example lets women work but some other places think of that as a sin. This makes it harder to research because a change in rulers can potentially change a lot of definitions.
