  • Read "Around the World in Eighty Days" (pub 1873). Isnt so long back (140 years) that there were no such things as "passports" and "visas" and "laws" "permitting" entry into modern countries (all bets off in places crushed under despotic tyrants). Entry barriers are a hallmark of tyrannies, why are democracies distracting their people with misleading concepts like this today?

  • Jawahar Patani writes

Lot of wars and killings we see are not religious wars but wars for land and power to rule as one race feels it is more superior than the other. But to raise sentiment we involve religion as its the simplest way to get people together as races are bound by a common string and that with just one name god. There was mass genocide in Rwanda yet no one in the world protested . Why because they were not from your race and tribe. Let us all agree that we are tribal. If a Muslim wants to go for hajj and has no passport and money will he be allowed in Saudia . The answer is NO. So why the segregation . Simple money money and money. Now when a poor man from the sweeper community has his daughter sold as a minor does half the world protest .... NO .... What are churches , mosques and temples today .... They are money making institutions and the stock in trade is god.

  • I a born muslim, a holder of a Pakistani Passport, feel more scared when I am in Muslim parts of the world, then when I am not in Muslim parts of the world for my life, Not just me, but many I know feel the same way, and do not feel safe in our own home land for our lives,.

Should we not work on changing this before we want to fight with others ?

Do you feel the same way ?

  • Wow

Leaving the US I got asked by the immigration officer if I have a son who was born in 1975, and he had my passport that says born in 1973

Seriously ? Pakistanis are very productive but still not able to reproduce at 2 years of age, at least not yet !

He was very sweet through in general, just very curious about my life.

  • Dear Asad / Amir / Rehan:

    Greetings from New Delhi.

HERE IS THE STORY SO FAR:
I submitted my visa application forms and was interviewed by Mr. Khadim Hussain on Monday, December 14. They took my passport and gave me a receipt for it. They said they would call me to collect my passport, but have not done so. I emailed Mr. Husssain about this, but to this date (Thursday, December 17, 2:30pm) I have not had a response. Tried to call the High Commission, but they do not answer the phone.

Tomorrow morning (Friday) I will go to the High Commission to collect my passport. If it has a visa in it, I will come to Pakistan. If it does not have a visa, I will not come to Pakistan. I will not wait in New Delhi as a prisoner for a visa that may or may not come.

Next time I try to visit Pakistan, I will get the Pakistani visa in America before I depart.

I will keep you all informed of the situation as it develops.

    Blessings,
    Lewis Elbinger
