  • Dear Mark

Can you please please for the sake of max and our children introduce a way for people on facebook to be available for random friend requests from people of different faiths, when Icq.com came out they had this option and so did skype called skype me

You can make facebook me function for people who want to meet random new people from around the world to be connected via facebook.

You can also make option for people in conflict or friction areas to see people of different faiths and countries on the side who they can add and talk to about their faiths.

Being from Pakistan a country of 200 million Muslims I know that most Muslims have never and will never meet a Jew in their life and most do not have any friends who are non Muslims , so they frown upon them as they do not know them .

The same happens in small cities of america.

This interaction via facebook will change their entire perspective on the OTHER party, and I have done research on this and have proven now that this work, and our research paper will be out in form of a book in March , you can see the results in form of interviews of people who were engaged in the above on rehanallahwala.com/winners where I gave laptops to people if they made 500 random new facebook friends , and these people completely changed their belief in 3 months time !

I really again hope that you do this for the sake of Max and all other humans as this will create peace in the world that was never imaginable before !

  • The World’s First Commercial Instant Messenger: The Story of ICQ

When people today open WhatsApp, Messenger, or Telegram, they rarely think about where the idea of real-time personal messaging really began. Long before encrypted chats and mobile stickers, there was ICQ—“I Seek You.”

It wasn’t the very first attempt at instant messaging, but it was the first commercial, mass-market messenger that brought real-time presence and chat to millions. For many—including me—it was more than just software. It was a revolution.

    Birth of ICQ (1996)

In 1996, four young Israelis—Yair Goldfinger, Sefi Vigiser, Amnon Amir, and Arik Vardi—founded Mirabilis. Their idea was revolutionary: a free desktop program that showed you when your friends were online and let you message them instantly.

They gave every user a Unique Identification Number (UIN). (Mine was 130844—yes, one of the earliest!) And of course, who can forget the iconic “uh-oh” sound?

By word of mouth alone, ICQ spread across the world like wildfire.

    My ICQ Memories

I still remember the thrill when ICQ arrived. I carried the installer on a floppy disk and went around installing it for everyone I knew:
    • On the Federal Express network in Karachi, connecting their offices across the country.
    • At Moosa Bhai’s house, setting it up on his and his sister Nair’s computer.
    • In Lahore, installing it for Basit Amjad and @shahid alvi , the very creators of the world’s first computer virus (BrainNet).

Each installation felt like magic—watching people send their first instant messages across cities was unforgettable.

    AOL, VK, and the End

In 1998, ICQ’s success led to AOL buying Mirabilis for $287 million, one of the earliest big internet deals. By the early 2000s, ICQ had over 100 million accounts.

But competition from MSN Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, and later WhatsApp chipped away. In 2010, AOL sold ICQ to Mail.ru (VK), who modernized it for mobile and rebranded it as “ICQ New.”

Finally, on June 26, 2024, after almost three decades, ICQ shut down. The little green flower said goodbye.

    Legacy

ICQ will always be remembered as the world’s first commercial instant messenger—the app that made us believe in online presence, buddy lists, and global connectivity. For me, it was personal. My UIN 130844 is proof that I was there at the very beginning, floppy disk in hand, installing the future.

And even today, when I hear that “uh-oh” sound in my head, it still makes me smile.

  • The Godfather of Israeli Innovation – The Story of Yossi Vardi

Once upon a time in Tel Aviv, in 1942, a boy was born who would one day ignite the spirit of innovation in an entire nation. His name was Yossi Vardi — the man the world now calls “the Godfather of Israeli high-tech.”

From his early days, Yossi wasn’t interested in following the crowd. He wanted to understand how things work — and then make them better. That curiosity led him to the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, where he earned three degrees in Industrial Engineering and Management. But it wasn’t degrees that made him great — it was his unshakable belief in people.

At just 27 years old, he became the Director General of Israel’s Ministry of Development — one of the youngest government leaders in the country’s history. Yet, despite this early success, he realized that true innovation rarely comes from offices and meetings — it comes from garages, friendships, and coffee table conversations.

That realization shaped his entire life.

    The Birth of a Revolution

In the mid-1990s, his teenage son Arik Vardi and three friends came to him with an idea that sounded absurd at the time — a tiny piece of software called ICQ, which allowed people to send instant messages over the internet.

It was the world’s first instant messaging app, years before WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger. Yossi believed in their crazy idea and invested his time, energy, and heart into it.

Within a few years, AOL bought ICQ for $407 million — the first major exit from Israel’s tech scene. That one event triggered what the world later called “The Startup Nation.”

But for Yossi, the real magic wasn’t the money — it was the spark of possibility. It proved that a small group of dreamers could change the world.

The Kinnernet Revolution – A Playground for Dreamers

After ICQ’s success, Yossi did something even more extraordinary.
He founded Kinnernet, an unconference held near the Sea of Galilee (Lake Kinneret) — a place where entrepreneurs, artists, musicians, scientists, and thinkers gather every year not to pitch or sell, but to share, collaborate, and play.

At Kinnernet, there are no VIPs, no panels, no PowerPoints.
There are no spectators — only participants.

Anyone can stand up and share an idea, perform a song, show a prototype, or host a discussion. People cook together, build together, laugh together. Ideas flow freely. Connections form naturally.

This is where the seeds of many global projects and friendships were planted — ideas that later became successful startups, artistic movements, and social initiatives.

    Yossi often says,

“The best way to create the future is to gather the people who can imagine it.”

Kinnernet has now inspired similar gatherings around the world — in Europe, South America, the United States, Africa, and beyond. Anyone can start one.

    All it takes is:
    1. A few curious people.
    2. A safe, informal space — maybe by a lake, a farm, or even a school courtyard.
    3. An open mind.

No big budget. No sponsorships. Just passion, humility, and the willingness to learn and share.

    Why It Matters

In a world full of competition, Kinnernet teaches collaboration.
In a world full of noise, it teaches listening.
And in a world full of fear, it teaches trust.

It reminds us that innovation doesn’t always need a startup accelerator or funding — sometimes, it needs human connection.

Imagine if Pakistan — and every country — created its own Kinnernet-style gatherings.
Students, teachers, engineers, artists, and dreamers sitting together, sharing food, music, and ideas — helping each other grow without ego or hierarchy.

That’s how we build a creative nation, not just a startup nation.

    Legacy of a Dreamer

Even in his 80s, Yossi Vardi still travels, mentors founders, and speaks at global forums like TED, DLD, and the World Economic Forum. He still laughs like a child and dreams like a beginner.

He reminds us that innovation is not about technology — it’s about people.

“If you never fail,” Yossi says, “it means you’re not trying hard enough.”

His story teaches us that the best investment isn’t in machines or money — it’s in curiosity, conversation, and community.

I highly recommend you to watch his talks on YouTube and other social media.
You won’t find him very active himself — but you’ll find hundreds of videos about him, featuring him, and inspired by him.
Listen to his humor, his humility, and his wisdom — and you’ll begin to understand how the Startup Nation was born.

So, to every young person reading this — maybe it’s time to create your own Kinnernet.
Start with five friends. A park. A whiteboard. Or just your phones.
    Dream together. Build together.
You never know — your next idea might just change the world.
